hi there,
another post here, after watching watchmen, i'm really intrigued by Adrian Veidt's view of the world, of how humankind is destined to kill each other in this morally bleak world, look around us, innocent people are dying day by day, initially, Rorschach, another character in the book, has a similiar view to adrian's,
"Existence is random. Has no pattern save what we imagine after staring at it for too long. No meaning save what we choose to impose. This rudderless world is not shaped by vague metaphysical forces. It is not God who kills the children. Not fate that butchers them or destiny that feeds them to the dogs. It’s us. Only us."
but instead of doing something about it, like Adrian did. he chose to settle it in barfights and crime fighting. Eddie Blake,The Comedian, is an epitome of nihilism, he thinks that life is a joke, Blake had lived his whole life as an example of it, the rape, the war, he thinks that no matter what he do in his life is meaningless, so he'd rather enjoy it, while he still can.
Watchmen explored the idea of crime-fighting in the real world, how impossible it is to be as good as superman and as devoted as batman, ultimately telling the world of how flawed
the crime-fighting idea is, and how one man in spandex, techno suit, a whole arsenal of weapons. cant stop war, chaos and all the bad things in the world. its just our nature to deal with this absurdity of life and all its chaos.
that was a mouthful huh?
see ya
